PhD Program

Students with a master's degree may proceed with a doctorate, at the end of which they will be awarded the academic title "Doctor of Natural Sciences (Dr. rer. nat.)".
The PhD programs of the Departments of Mathematics and Natural Sciences are pooled in the doctoral program Georg-August-University, School of Science (GAUSS). The Department of Informatics takes part in this program with the PhD program in Computer Science (PCS).

The PhD program in Computer Science is designed for three years. Apart from a few tasks in the academic sector, participants mainly do research. More information can be found here.

Admission requirements

For admission, you need a Master's degree in Applied Informatics, Technical Informatics, Telecommunications engineering, or in a similar subject.

In addition, you need at least 120 credit points from the fields of practical, theoretical and technical Informatics.
